  • Why Should Cannabis Be Cured?

The science of properly cured cannabis! Written By: Gabriel Hiralal What does it take to produce a superior cannabis flower? A well selected and traceable genetic origin? Yes. Careful cultivation combining round the clock vigilance, consistent nutrient application, state of the art irrigation systems and hydroponic lighting? Sure. A timely trim following harvest? Also correct. These are all critical to the production of a flower that designates the kind of brand loyalty most contemporary cannabis purveyors fight tooth and nail to achieve and sustain. However, am I here to make the argument that all the work and time put into these precursory steps are wasted if the product does not undergo a slow, steady, and thorough curing process. Have you ever speculated as to why your cannabis may smoke better or worse at times? This is a consequence of improper curing, as compounds have not been “cured out” of the plant. A well-orchestrated cure sees to it that not only is your smoking experience one that is both smooth and enjoyable, but a properly cured cannabis flower will also be more potent that an improperly cured cannabis flower. CURING PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA Curing cannabis and its importance can be compared to the Italian staple so renowned that it’s a Protected Designation of Origin food, Prosciutto Di Parma. The making of Prosciutto Di Parma is labor intensive and expensive. The pigs are fattened on a diet of whey leftover from the making of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Once slaughtered the ham is cleaned and salted, where it is left to dry for two months. It is then washed and hung up to dry again, usually in a dark and well-ventilated room for 14-18 months. This is where the parallels between the curing of cannabis flowers and ham legs become more evident. As with cannabis flower Prosciutto Di Parma is methodically produced and can be all but destroyed if it’s drying and aging process is improperly administered. The air surrounding the ham as it dries must be both damp and cool to produce the most desirable end product. The aging process will never begin if the air is too warm, and the meat will go rancid. What happens say, if the meat is too dry? It is ruined all the same. Prosciutto Di Parma and cannabis flowers are both systematically cured as a result of several shared commonalities, the desire to remove bacteria for long term storage and to magnify quality. The Benefits of Curing Cannabis: Let’s return to the finalization of a cannabis harvest. While the decimation of bacteria is one goal of curing what other benefits does it bring to the consumer? A well-handled cure halts both the chemical and structural degradation of the plant, maintaining components like cannabinoids and terpenes which have a propensity to evaporate or morph into less desirable chemical components. As a consumer in search of desirable flower you should look for stems that snap in favor of bending, buds devoid of any leaves, visual THC crystallization, a strong smell, no brown or black spots (which are a sign of molding) and when burned a white ash. Does your weed match the criteria? If so enjoy! If you enjoyed this article, check out some of our other content similar to this piece. • 5 Cannabis Marketing Strategies for 2023:

Marketing a cannabis business is a difficult task. We've listed 5 ways to get around it. Written by: Niko San Pedro How to market your products in the cannabis industry: Working in the cannabis industry has a steep entry curve, something a lot of people don't realize. Although the industry has its fair share of difficulties, I would be lying to you if I said we aren't in the green rush. The amount of potential growth for emerging companies is huge but overcoming some of the day-to-day obstacles that the average cannabis entrepreneur faces will be imperative to building a sustainable and long-lasting company. In this blog we will discuss 5 ways to properly market your product in the cannabis & CBD industry. I run a company called biokemp.net where we are the leading manufacturer of custom filter tips in the US and have been directly involved in the cannabis market for over 5 years. In that time of involvement, I have found a few valuable assets covered in a haystack of pins that have catapulted my business that I want to share with you. Since the inception of Biokemp, the biggest & hardest question I have ever had to combat was, "How do I market my Cannabis company?" That's a very valid question considering in the cannabis industry, social media advertisements are completely out of the picture since cannabis is still federally illegal. I have delt with many deleted accounts, advertisements that costed a lot of capital that were taken down and shadow bans on every single IG page I have created. This has made it extremely difficult to get our products out to the public. In the midst of all these obstacles, I have finally discovered a few different ways to carefully work around barriers that keep us from being able to run ad campaigns on social platforms. 1: RUNNING ADS AS A CANNABIS COMPANY This one is tricky since almost every social platform has specific guidelines to work around and it is not an option to post anything that contains cannabis or weed leaves. (I have seen people get away with this for a short time but usually at some point they get deleted or shadow banned) OPTION 1: Create a separate apparel page & website. Make sure that page does not showcase cannabis or CBD products. A great example is what Cookies Enterprise has done with Cookies Clothing. Their apparel is worn by almost every single person who consumes cannabis. This gets your brand out there and drives traffic to your site without going against the platforms set regulations. OPITION 2: Create a separate event page. This strategy knocks two birds out with one stone. The event space is the most popular way cannabis companies are currently advertising. We've always said here at Biokemp that "Cannabis fuels passions, creativity & human connection" and something about bringing the people together at events really embodies what the cannabis industry is about. Create a separate social platform for your events. Refrain from using the words CANNABIS & CBD and the likeliness of you being approved for ads increases tenfold. 2: DIGITAL ASSETS IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY Blogs & SEO's is a great way to start generating additional revenue streams for your business. In my experience of being involved in this space one of the things companies have forgotten about is the amount of organic traffic a singular optimized blog & website can bring to you. I've been writing blogs now for over a year. Some of the blogs I've released have generated over 2,000 website clicks a month. That may not seem like too much, but its free, its informational, and its easy! I have seen several extremely popular cannabis brands miss out on the doors google opens for companies. Many of these popular companies don't have functional websites or SEO's & keywords on their pages. A popular misconception is you have to pay for things like this. I highly recommend watching free YouTube videos by Neil Patel & Brian Dean. In a few weeks your website can be generating thousands of clicks just by taken a little bit of their advice. Check out this video by Neil Patel on Blogs & SEO's: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZS8ffht5kY) 3: CANNABIS NETWORKING EVENTS Over the past half decade, many of the most popular companies you see today have built names for themselves by 'showing face' at these events thrown by other companies. One thing people may not be comfortable with is putting the label of working in the cannabis industry. I think it's great, and it's coming up, and fast! Be proud to be a part of the movement and get out there and talk about your product. There was even a time that I felt like keeping Biokemp (a filter tip company) and myself separated but the more involved I got in this space the more I started to realize how important it is for there to have face to your company. During 420 of 2022, I decided to take a trip to NYC an attended an event thrown by Astor Club. A popular lounging space in the heart of NYC. The event was 3 days long & the number of companies that attended from around the world was astonishing to me. It was so great to finally put a face too many of the companies we had worked with in the past and I'm sure these companies felt the same. It makes your brand feel more personal. 4: Collaboration The cannabis industry is quite small & Collaboration will bring your company more success. In war, it's not the strongest countries that win but the ones with the most allies. Business should be treated the same. There's enough room in this industry for everyone to succeed and working to push your products into new target demographics is essential for growth. The reason our company is where it is today is due to some of the strategic partnerships we've had. And people I have met along the way. 5: Business to Business Having a direct sales pipeline with companies who will acquire large volume of your product is the quickest way of making capital fast. Every business owner dream of having a brand like Nike or Gucci, which is possible but in order to get your brand the recognition it needs you have to be working with right people. 80% of our current business comes directly from B2B clients. Through working with these business's, they've put us in rooms we could've never imagined being in. Summary on 5 Ways to Market Cannabis in 2022: Building a company in this space is a great way to build lifelong relationships. Cannabis fuels passion, creativity & human connection. When it comes down to marketing in this space there is no exact blueprint. But there are short guides you can follow to accelerate your company's growth. Learning how to run ads in the industry will generate you a large amount of income if done correctly, compiling digital assets that push your company out helps tremendously, attending cannabis networking events to meet like-minded individuals, collaborating with individuals, and making products available for wholesalers. #5waystomarketcannabis #Cannabismarketing #Cannabisnetworking

  • The 5 Best Types of Rolling Paper:

As the leading manufacture of custom filter tips here in the US, the one question we receive quite frequently is our preferred rolling papers. I believe there are several companies bringing a unique style of paper to the market that create a more enjoyable smoking experience. If you have the intention of starting a pre-roll company or you are just an avid cannabis connoisseur knowing which rolling papers to roll with is an important part in the art of rolling. We've created a list of 5 of our favorite rolling papers & the reasons we enjoy them: Element Rolling Papers: Consuming cannabis is entirely relative to the users individual preferences. For us here at Biokemp enjoying the flavor profile of the flower we consume is at the top of our priority list. Elements original rice papers bring a unique experience to the market. These rolling papers have the least amount of taste which allows you to fully soak in whatever terpenes the flower you are consuming contains. A lot of rollers introducing sku's like hash holes to the market tend to go with this route of rolling paper due to the accessibility & quality of the product. According to element "Elements are an incredibly clean and thin rolling paper, and they are made from pure rice. Elements contain NO chemicals, NO pulp, and NO hemp. Elements are designed to maintain the smoothest burn possible, and they rarely run (burn unevenly)." OCB Rolling Papers: Now, these guys are legends & have been involved in the industry for quite sometime. OCB's product in my opinion is phenomenal for people who enjoy consuming cannabis and tobacco at the same time. Better known as a "Spliff". The paper is a tad bit thicker than that of elements or other rice papers but surprisingly enough it does not take away from the flavor of your cannabis. OCB's burn quite slow which is another thing to know when bringing a pre-roll to market. The slower the burn the better for the consumer. Smoking Papers: Smoking papers is a very popular brand in Europe. These papers originated in Spain and have been making their move into the states slowly. I had the opportunity to meet the head of brand development sometime ago at the champs tradeshow in Orlando. I was extremely impressed with the quality of this companies papers & the array of different sku's they have readily available. I do enjoy how thin this companies papers are & how easy they are to roll. Zig Zag Rolling Papers: Zig Zags, were the first rolling papers I ever learned how to roll up with & I will say I still do purchase these papers in large volume. One of the things that makes the experience of rolling with zig zags so great especially for beginners is how effective their glue that bonds the joint is. According to Zig Zag "All Zig-Zag papers have a thin glue line to provide a perfect seal – every time. Derived from the sap of the African acacia tree, the natural properties of gum Arabic provide a consistent seal without impacting the taste of your smoke. "This makes the whole process of learning to roll quite easy. Working with ineffective glues can be a hard curve to get over for people just learning to roll. The last thing you want is to have a nice pearl that does not hold up. Bambuu Rolling Papers: I recently found out about this companies rolling papers & honestly I am quite impressed. They seem to be gaining a lot of traction in the northern states. Especially by people who like to roll "doobies" without any filter tips in the roll. These papers are longer in length allowing you pack these bad boys thick like a brothers broad leaf pearl or backwood. I've seen quite a lot of people actually peal the cigar glue off these papers and roll them up without the glue which is tricky in my opinion. These papers are known for being vegan & GMO free. If you enjoyed this article & plan to start rolling up some gorgeous pearls don't forget to check out our video on YouTube with Nose Deaf on "HOW TO ROLL A JOINT": Looking to get some custom filters made for your pre-roll line. • How to roll a perfect Hash Hole like a professional every time.

Your Ultimate Guide to Rolling and Smoking Hash Holes. Written By: Jake Robinson A hash hole is a joint composed of cannabis flower infused with hash rosin (traditionally). Surely you know you can cop a killer hash hole on the street or the shelves in most states. That said, it is helpful to know how to twist one of these up for yourself. Although having a sizable stash of top-shelf flower rosin is always a good thing, learning how to roll your own hash hole joints from home puts the power in your hands. Hit us up at @shopbiokemp if you have questions, comments, or want to say high. Keep reading for an in-depth look at hash holes and get busy practicing. BIOKEMP has all the kit you need to roll the perfect hash hole like a pro every time. The Dawn of the Commercial Hash Hole. If you are looking for a deep dive into the best hash holes available on the shelves in each State's legal market, check out this article on the best pre-rolls of 2022, written by Leafly's California Bureau Chief and friend of BIOKEMP David Downs. Also check out Danté Jordan and his piece in Thrillist on Fidel, the forefather of the Rosin infused hash hole. What are the components of a Hash Hole? Hash holes are joints (or blunts) that fuse high-quality cannabis flower with terpene-rich hash rosin to create a sizable doob with a hollow center stuffed with the solventless extract. The Hash Hole: Half Science, Half Art. Of course, when it comes to rolling your own, only practice makes perfect. When a pro properly twists a hash hole, the flower and the "snake" of hash rosin in the center will burn at around the same rate the entire time. How to Smoke A Hash Hole. As with anything, don't expect to perfect this craft without some practice. Having a firm footing in how to roll a regular joint will help, however there are multiple factors that go into the perfect hash hole from a consumption perspective as well. It may sound silly, but there is some undeniable skill and nuance that goes into consuming one of these hitters as well. When things go mostly right with your roll, and all the variables are accounted for, the rosin inside your hash hole will melt internally and maintain a stable burn rate relative to the cannabis flower surrounding it. This complete combustion is paramount to the proper hash hole experience. Don't Be an Ash-Hole. After you ash your hash hole for the first time, a rosin-filled recess (or "hole") within the center of the joint will appear if all goes according to plan. Before long, what started as a terpene-filled tunnel will resemble a veritable vortex that begins at the top of the roll and runs through the core of the entire joint. The Importance of the proper Filter Tip or "Crutch" in a Hash Hole. When smoking a hash hole the most important aspect to consumption is to have a consistent stream of airflow throughout the smoke. The importance of using the proper filter tip or “crutch” becomes evident when consuming a roll using a sub-optimal filter. The difference in “pull” or “toke” varies tremendously from user to user. Therefore, if consuming a hash hole with others, there is bound to be a bit of bothersome leaks, drips, and runs if the perfect filter tip is not used. The Perfect Filter Tip for Hash Holes. Enter BIOKEMP – the undisputed leader of the pack when it comes to producing a filter with the perfect air flow and backdraft. One of the only connoisseur smoking accessories that has the optimal balance. Since 2018 BIOKEMP has been at the forefront of this burgeoning field, providing the tools and working hand in hand with professional rollers and leaders in the space. The epitome of high design, and superior form and function. BIOKEMP continues to break barriers and bring innovative solutions to the hash hole and connoisseur roll market. Steps to Roll a Hash Hole. Find and grind your favorite flower. We recommend 1.5 Grams of Flower and .3 grams of rosin. It seems to be that for group hash holes the more Rosin, the more likely the joint will run or “canoe”. Pick your paper (we recommend King Size Elements or OCB) and choose your tip size. This has been a point of contention in the craft rolling community. That said, we recommend (generally speaking) using a size 10MM tip for your personal hash holes, and graduating to a 12MM for the holes you share with your homies. When first starting out it can be a little tough to roll the entire hash hole from start to finish in your hand. We recommend laying the paper flat on a tray and forming the flower into a rectangle in the center. From there, grab your rosin and roll it between your palms a couple of times until you have a sizable snake of hash, that you can then place directly in the center of your flower (on top of the paper). Lay your chosen filter tip on the right side of the paper (reverse if left handed) and begin to form the classic joint cylinder shape with your fingers, carefully tucking the paper into itself before applying cigar glue (or just licking) the gum side of the rolling paper. You want the roll to be filled uniformly but be careful not to roll it too tight. This last part definitely takes some practice, but the perfect hash hole should only need to be slightly packed or tamped down at the tip. Avoid packing too tightly as you don't want to restrict airflow or worse, compact the concentrate filling the center. Push the tip of the filter up slightly from the bottom of the joint, clip and excess paper, and you're ready to smoke like a pro. Puff, Puff, Practice. If you're still having trouble and would like to learn from the best, we can recommend the following accounts as these are some fabulous full-time rollers who have reinvented the craft and, along with a few select brands, catapulted the Hash Hole into cult status among the cannabis culture. Here is a list (in no particular order, and most certainly missing some) of how we get high with a little help from out friends... @Davincicannagar @grunchysgreenhouse @properdoinks @Brunosrolls @Nose.deaf @E4p_cigar @Cgo__lyfestyle @Backwoodsrollsco @Romerollsbars @Redrootsrollingco

  • Are glass tips good for rolling?

Are glass tips good for rolling? As a modern smoker, you have probably asked the question “Are glass tips good for rolling? Everyone has their own ideas on how to improve filter tips, and everyone has their personal favorite. Despite new choices appearing every year, glass tips have maintained their position as the most popular choice for quite some time. Below, we will take a close look at some of the advantages of using glass filter tips. Maintains Structure Rolling with DIY tips or cardboard filter tips is common due to their accessibility. However, these tips come with a steep learning curve, as they lack the strength to provide reliable structure. Rolling with glass filters, which are stronger and come in many sizes, is much more reliable. Superior Airflow and Reusability The airflow quality will depend to a great extent on the sort of tip you are using. Every smoker, even those who don’t prefer glass filters, will likely agree that they provide the cleanest airflow. This is in part due to how easy glass filters are to clean. No matter how strict your upkeep is, other long-lasting filters, like wood or ceramic, will eventually accrue a certain amount of permanent filth. On the other hand, glass filters can be cleaned to perfection with nothing more than rubbing alcohol, some salt, and a ziplock bag. How to Roll Using a Glass Tip Given the weight of a glass filter compared to hemp, paper, or plastic, they can be difficult to get used to, especially for beginners. The trick is to always keep a hand on the filter, as it may want to roll off your paper. It is also important to select the glass tip which matches the amount of tobacco that you would like to put on the paper. If you are using an extra-long tip, make sure to support the tip’s tail on the top of the hand. Are Glass Filter Tips Right for Me? If you still can’t decide whether or not glass filter tips suit you, just ask yourself these questions: Are you experienced enough to roll with a heavier filter? Do you want a filter that is reusable and easy to clean? Can you commit to cleaning the filter, which may need to be done several times a week? This last question is especially important. To truly get the best from a glass filter, you will be required to clean it comprehensively, which will require some patience. Back flap of a Checkbook Do people still use checks? The back flap of the checkbook is an excellent material to use for your DIY filter tip. Empty Toilet Paper Roll As a kid, you probably used it like a telescope. Now, as a smoker, you can use them to make filter tips. This is a great use for old rolls because they contain no chemicals, they’re malleable, and they really don’t work very well as a telescope. This does it for the DIY material options, but we’ll go ahead and run through the more upscale filter options: Glass The Ferrari of filter tips, glass filters are generally reusable and guaranteed to make your joint look like a million bucks. Wood Trying to keep it close to nature? Wood filter tips are the way to go, providing a good-looking filter tip that is biodegradable. Silicone These are fun to hold and come in all different colors and models. Activated Charcoal Commonly used in cigarettes, now you can find some smokers who like to use these in their joints. Cork The grandfather of all filter tips, cork has been used since the beginning of filter history. It is not commonly used for joints unless you require improvisation and have a cigarette to sacrifice. Kemp Tips Our favorite at Biokemp. If glass is a Ferrari, Kemp Tips are Tesla. Kemp Tips makes the entire joint experience plant-based and highly sustainable. In Biokemp’s case, they are also customizable and reusable up to three times. Unbleached Paper Very cheap and easy to use, these can be found at every smoke shop across the globe. Ceramic Another alternative that some consider similar to glass is ceramic. What we like about ceramic filters is the pleasant texture the dried clay provides while smoking. #FilterTipsforJoins #whatcaniusetobuildafiltertip

  • Why should I use Biodegradable Filter Tips?

Top Biodegradable Filter Tips Despite many recent pushes for more sustainability, filters used in cigarettes are usually made of plastic. Specifically, a synthetic fiber known as Cellulose Acetate that requires more than 10 years to break down. However, biodegradable filter tips, most of which are paper-based, have found a place in the market. Unfortunately, not many people have made the switch at present. Cigarette filters are going to break down in the long run but only in the proper conditions. They happen to be the most well-known source of ocean plastic pollution at present, forming as much as 38% of the waste found. On the other hand, plastic straws, which have a much worse reputation as a pollutant, constitute only 0.25% of the total plastic that makes its way every year into the ocean. Although there have been efforts to minimize plastic consumption by shunning the use of plastic straws, mainly by pubs, supermarkets, and eateries, no such efforts have been taken to eliminate plastic cigarette filters. Even if you disregard the plastic, cigarette litter is loaded with harmful toxins, such as arsenic, which causes harm to marine life when leaked into the water. Discarded filters have been found in the stomachs of birds, fish, and whales who mistook the filters for food. More than 5 trillion cigarette filter tips enter the environment each year. It is Time to Make the Switch Despite this being such an obvious issue, there is not much awareness of paper-based, eco-friendly alternatives at present. Biodegradable filter tips can be obtained from eBay, Amazon, and many smaller online vendors; nevertheless, they are not found in physical stores on a large scale. Most of the supermarket chains out there have stopped distributing plastic straws in favor of paper. Even though paper straws cost more, the switch will reduce overall consumption to a great extent and have a positive impact on the environment. When you consider the fact that paper filters are just as cost-effective as plastic, it becomes clear that there is every reason for these shops to switch to biodegradable filters as well. No Excuse to Litter Perhaps someday soon, all cigarette filter tips will be plastic-free. Even if that becomes the norm, a less harmful, paper-based filter still isn’t entirely harmless. It is still litter, and changing the filter won’t change anything about the toxins in the cigarette itself. Though most people know better than to throw their food wrappers on the ground, they still tend to throw cigarette butts on the floor without a second thought. For this reason, despite endless anti-littering campaigns, they are probably the most littered material at almost every major event. If this is a cause you would like to actively take part in, start by taking the following measures: • Come to terms with the fact that plastic filter tips are among the most damaging types of litter on earth, and tell your spread awareness of the fact. • Purchase adequate biodegradable filters online, ideally those that are reusable and sustainable. • Reach out to your local outlets and pressure them to begin stocking biodegradable filter tips.

  • How to use Filter Tips?

Filter tips are used when rolling a joint, spliff, tobacco, cannagar, or any other form of smoking apparatus that involves rolling. A filter tip provides stiffness, improves airflow, and prevents the filling of whatever you are smoking from falling into your mouth. No matter what you’re smoking, it is important to know how to set up a filter tip properly: Check for Airflow: Try blowing through the filter to make sure an adequate amount of air gets through. Place it accordingly: The filter tip should be placed at the end of the rolling paper, tobacco leaf, or whatever other rolling product you are using. The end of the tip should match the end of the paper. Ensure that, once the product is rolled, the filter won’t stick out or be too far inside. Once the filter is in place, continue rolling your product as usual. The filter tip should provide structure, and if it’s a customized filter, it will make your smokeable more personalized. Once everything is in place, there are still a few points to keep in mind during and after your smoke: Avoid smoking to the tip: Whether you’re smoking paper, wood, hemp, or glass, it is best to stop smoking just before you reach the tip. Keep your filter clean: If it is a reusable filter, you’ll want to keep it clean. Glass filters can be washed with water, but an alcohol/salt solution is generally more effective. Other reusable filters like hemp don’t require extensive cleanup; if nothing else, give it a quick shake and blow some air through it to release anything stuck within. Be careful when disposing of your filter tip: Some filter tips, such as silicone and plastic, are not biodegradable. Other filter tips, such as glass, have been known to cause fires when thrown in forests with high temperatures and an abundance of dry leaves. If you aren’t sure whether or not your filter is fully biodegradable, it is best to dispose of it properly. In conclusion, a filter tip is a nice smoking accessory that is easy to use and provides a more enjoyable smoking experience. Keeping these few short notes in mind when and if you use them will allow for a more pleasant experience for both you and others. #BestFilterTipsForRollingJoints #FilterTipsforJoins #HempFiltertips
